How are the donated oocytes retrieved? How many oocytes can be retrieved?
The eggs are retrieved by tapping the donor?s hormonally stimulated ovaries and aspirating the oocytes from the donor?s ovaries. It is not possible to determine the number of oocytes in advance as it depends on the reaction of the donor?s ovaries to the medication. Not all retrieved oocytes are suitable for treatment. Usually 5 to 8 oocytes can be retrieved. The oocytes are subsequently fertilized with the partner?s or donor?s sperm, but not all oocytes necessarily develop into viable embryos.

How are the donated oocytes fertilized?
Immediately after the retrieval, the donated eggs are fertilized with the sperm of the recipient?s partner using Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). For that purpose, either frozen sperm that the partner had frozen and stored in our cryobank can be used, or we can use fresh sperm gained by masturbation on the day of the donor?s eggs retrieval. Donor sperm can also be used.

When and where is the embryo transfer performed?
The embryos can be transferred into the recipient?s uterus following 2-5 days of cultivation. After the retrieval of oocytes from the donor and their fertilization, the Patient/Recipient is informed by phone or via email about the creation and development of embryos and the date of embryo transfer is scheduled.
The embryos are transferred into the uterine cavity in the operating room at the clinic. The Recipient determines the number of embryos (1-3). The Partner may be present at the embryo transfer. Instructions on further use of medication, pregnancy test scheduling as well as information about embryos that were not transferred and their possible cryogenic preservation are given to patients at this time.

NI kan öven googla på kliniken och hitta att många kvinnor i USA och england åker hit.

    Oocyte and Embryo Donor Programmes

They are programme that make pregnancy possible for women with an insufficient production of their own eggs, and for women with genetic problems, even in combination with an andrological factor in the partner.

    Who are suitable egg donors?
They are woman aged 18 to 35, hormonally stimulated for the purpose of egg donation. Their anonymity must be maintained under any circumstances and women who find donors for themselves must bear in mind that their donors' oocytes will be used for other patients.
The case history of each donor is taken and their health examined to rule out transmissible diseases and pathological conditions negatively influencing fertility. Blood tests and genetic examinations are also made. The examination needs to be repeated after a six-month interval.

    Oocyte and embryo recipients

Oocyte recipients are registered in a waiting list maintained by the embryologic laboratory based on the indication of a physician from a specialized outpatient department.

    1. In the order in which their names appear in the waiting list, the patients will be asked, in writing, make a deposit of 5,000 CZK at the Teaching Hospital cashier's office. The amount will be used to cover the expenses of the oocyst donors.

    2. After the registration in the waiting list, the partner's sperm must be examined and frozen (also in the case the intracytoplasmic injection of the spermatozoon into the oocyte will be used). The sperm for freezing is taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7.30 am and 9 am by appointment only (please call extension 441). This is not necessary if donated embryos are to be used.
