    Engelska skolan i Lund?

Hi, Our son goes to IES Lund. We are extremely happy. (10 year old son included...)  He originally attended Bladins IS in Malmö from PYP 1 - PYP 5 however we were dissatisfied with the academic rigour and we were planning to move him to Malmö IS which has a better structured IB program (and a principle who runs a very tight ship) However, when we discovered that IES was opening a school in Lund we changed our plans and applied there. It's great and worth the commute from Malmö to Lund. It just started this year so it only has grade 4 - 6. Next year they will be moving to larger facilities which are being custom built, and they will expand to grade 9. Info on the project at www.grenverket.com.

If you are interested in anyway for the school, you should get into the queue now just like Anders mentioned above. There are 67,000 kids on the wait lists for the schools all over the country. Lund hasn't done any advertising and they have 267 in the queue right now. You can always decline the place if you are offered it.

If your son already speaks English then the level will not be that high for him in the lower grades since most of the Swedish children in the lower grades haven't had very much. But, that being said, half the staff are native English speakers and they give extra work to the children who are ahead. There are also other bilingual children in the classes. Our son is bilingual so he finds the phonics part boring, but he has reading and writing assignments to keep him at the level he should be. (and he has me after school )

If you have any questions I'm happy to give input.
