Hello , I saw this post about Karolinska Reproduktionsmedicin and wanted to share with you guys my experience.
I sincerely hope you will not go what I went through and that it is going to be better for you, guys.
Karolinska Reproduktionsmedicin Huddinge has been the most horrible, horrendous IVF clinic I have been to- and that says a lot, since I have been to quite a few! Rude, authoritarian doctors who more than anything want to show they are in power and that the patient is NEVER right. Just to start with, they tried to deny me my IVF treatment because I had a lock on my previous medical records that I wanted to keep private. They refused to accept that it is a patient?s right to have their records locked and private and constantly demanded access or threatened to deprive me of my treatment. So wrong on so many levels? I went to the main responsible doctor for the entire department Tekla Lind and she completely refused to accept that as a patient, I had the right to privacy and to not have my medical history viewed by the entire department. Truly appalling , horrendous treatment and an absolutely rude, unprofessional woman who shouldn?t be put anywhere near IVF patients - Tekla Lind was a total disaster- not only her treatment of us as patients was unthinkable and rude but as a superior doctor in charge of an entire department she completely failed to help us and to acknowledge our right to privacy- never before was I blackmailed to let somebody into my medical records or else my IVF treatment would be taken away!
2. I asked the now retired överläkare Kjell for a human growth hormone prescription, because I had a proven deficiency with bloodwork from abroad- it has been proven in many medical studies that a deficiency of Human Growth Hormone could lead to worse quality eggs and supplementing it could improve IVF outcome for patients- I was flat out denied and told that ? if I want their public treatment, I need to accept that they will treat me the Swedish way? - but what is the Swedish way? Apparently the worst ever- the bare minimum, without any care about patients? privacy rights, bloodwork and deficiency in hormones -nor patients? pain threshold, either!
3. That brings me to the last thing: the anesthesia - Karolinska Reproduktionsmedicin does not care to put their female patients to sleep during their egg retrieval procedure- apparently they don?t think that injecting a 20 cm needle into a woman?s ovaries is painful at all- when I asked for general anesthesia to not feel the pain during the 20 minutes of the procedure, I was once again told that this is Sweden and that here we do things our own way- take it or leave it. Suck it up or have no public IVF. No regard for the patient?s well being during such an emotional and invasive procedure at all! In other countries this procedure is done under complete anesthesia mainly due to the high pain that accompanies it and discomfort. Karolinska Huddinge doesn?t care about such things. They only care to get things done as cheaply as possible and to provide the bare minimum for tax money.
Their lab is the worst in Sweden- their success rate of genetically tested embryos is WAY BELOW 30% and they destroyed our one only good embryo - they just said it happens sometimes (No, it shouldn?t happen at all!) If you can, then try to stay away and pick another clinic since Karolinska IVF Huddinge is a total waste of your time and energy ( and ovaries as well). Such places should not get any public funding at all, they are a total disgrace.
